You Can't Make This Sort Of Thing Up

Apparently George Bush isn't just underfunding security, he is actually now injuring police:
Biker Bush collides with police officer
06/07/2005 - 21:19:45
US President George Bush collided with a police officer during a bike ride on the grounds of the Gleneagles golf resort while attending the G8 summit, the White House said tonight....the officer was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
What is it with this guy? First the pretzels, now all these bike incidents. What's next -- snapping an Achilles tendon clearing brush?

Well, they didn't want to interrupt his bike ride to tell him that the White House might be hit by a plane, so maybe they didn't want to interrupt him to tell him that the White House's resident was going to hit someone either. Ah yes, here is that Secret Service manual: "Never interrupt bike ride just because one object might hit another."

But careful how far you go with this though -- as I recall Bill Clinton tore his patellar tendon falling down some stairs late at night at the golfer Greg Norman's house (wink wink, nudge nudge). And Al Gore did tear his Achilles in a rather mundane way (playing hoops without stretching, I think).

Let's just hope that the President did not assert,
"I don't fall down ..."
, like some other politicians we know.

Welcome to the blogosphere. I have been enjoying your posts.
